The layer on top of the ice here in Nashville was at least a half-inch thick this morning. My initial reason for stepping outside was to scoop my driveway. I worked for twenty minutes (making very little progress) before I got distracted with stacking the shards of ice that had formed above my driveway. My wife will probably not be very amused when she gets back home tomorrow.

These things look pretty nasty compared to the little, short-limbed, short-antenna’d, black crickets that are common in Nebraska.

Ok, so this really looks like a morbid photo but I took this near the Villisca Ax Murder House in Villisca, IA. This particular photo is from the cemetary that is located just a block or two away. The family was all buried there (in 1912, i believe) and we stayed there over night in the house. You can definitely see some movement up top in the photo and tons of orbs! Spooky...

Reed Frog

A couple weeks ago I found a dead frog in our basement. I figured it must have got brought in on a box or something. Then the other day I found a live frog in our basement. Not sure how they got it, but I think it is a reed frog. Long story short, my son now has a new pet!

Not something you see on every vacation… these guys must have missed their gun safety class though. They didn’t seem too bothered by the fact that they had their fully automatic weapons pointed at other cars.

We were walking along the paths outside the Hubbard Rhino Barn at Ashfall State Historical Park and this guy came out to say hi. With his green and brown coloring, he’s well camouflaged in the shot.
